The MOT Re-Test

VOSA (The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) states that there are two cases for which a re-test is free of charge:
The vehicle fails the MOT test and remains at the MOT test centre for repairs. The vehicle fails the MOT test on one or more of the following items, and is returned to the test station before the end of the next working day for re-examination.
  • Bonnet
  • Bootlid
  • Brake pedal anti-slip
  • Direction indicators
  • Doors
  • Dropsides
  • Fuel filler cap
  • Hazard warning
  • Horn
  • Lamps
  • Loading door
  • Mirrors
  • Rear reflectors
  • Registration plates
  • Seat belts
  • Seats
  • Sharp edges
  • Steering wheel
  • Tailboard
  • Tailgate
  • VIN
  • Windscreen and glass
  • Wipers and washers
  • Wheels and tyres

If the vehicle is removed from the MOT test centre and returned within 10 working days, a partial re-test fee will be charged. The current re-test fee is half of the full test price.
