Millions of people throughout many centuries have enjoyed fireworks. They are great fun!

However accidents can happen with anything, any-time, anywhere. Don't let it happen to you because the consequences of carelessness with fireworks can be devastating. Please ensure you follow the fireworks code to ensure your safety.

Fireworks Code.

  1. Keep fireworks in a closed box
  2. Follow the instructions on each firework
  3. Light all fireworks at arms length
  4. Stand well back
  5. Never go back to a lit firework
  6. Never put fireworks in your pocket
  7. Never throw fireworks
  8. Keep pets indoors

Take special care with sparklers.

  • Sparklers can be beautiful and enjoyable for young children but adults must be aware of their potential. Sparklers are the cause of a disproportionate number of injuries but only a few simple precautions are necessary.
  • Always supervise children with sparklers.
  • Teach them to hold the sparkler at arms length, but not near anyone else.
  • Sparklers are not for the under 5s. They will be labelled as such and it is your responsibility.
  • Have a container of water handy, big enough for the spent sparkler. Dump the sparkler in it as soon as it goes out.

Keep Safe & Enjoy your fireworks.

We are now pleased to offer a windscreen chip repair service, helping you maintain your vehicle in optimum condition. Windscreen chip repair can save you time and money, rather than having the more costly expense of a replacement windscreen. Sometimes the type, size and position of the damage will mean that the whole windscreen needs to be replaced.

Why repair a chip?

  • A chipped windscreen could develop a crack at any time - and often when you least expect it. It could even happen when you are driving and affect your safety That's why it's important to repair a windscreen chip as soon as you spot it.
  • Save time. It's quicker and easier than replacing a new windscreen.
  • Save money. It's more cost effective to repair a chip as opposed to waiting for a crack to develop, risking the cost of a complete new windscreen.
  • Reduce the risk of it failing an MOT, avoiding the added inconvenience of a retest.
  • Repair is stress free. It can simply be booked in at your convenience.

We've got the majority of the new roof on, and we're pleased to say it's made a huge difference - compare this to the photo in our previous article.

Some of our customers and passers-by may have noticed slight disruption up Marley Lane with additional parked cars and heavy machinery. We're replacing our old leaky workshop roof with a new environmentally friendly solution - hopefully saving on heating costs and keeping the workforce dry! The majority of the work should be complete by Friday 21st January, after which only the scaffolding will remain for finishing touches.

With the second seriously cold snap of the winter upon us, we've got some tips to help you on the roads:

  • Check your anti-freeze level and if topping up make sure to use the correct mixture of water to anti-freeze. Water on its own can freeze, turn to ice and expand, causing permanent damage to your engine.
  • Check all your lights are clean of snow and ice, and that all are working. Get a friend or relative to help you with this.
  • Check your windscreen wash level and that it is mixed to a strong enough concentration to prevent it freezing.
  • Ensure your tyres are correctly inflated and meet legal minimum standards (1.6mm tread depth over the centre 75% of the tyre).
  • Ensure your vehicle is regularly serviced to identify any additional problems.

If unsure of any of the above, we are currently offering a 55 Point Winter Service for just £49.95 inc. VAT. This covers all above components plus more, so you can be confident that your vehicle is ready for winter driving. Please note this is not a substitute for regular major servicing.

Also remember to carry appropriate emergency equipment for the distance you're travelling. This may include:

  • Ice scraper and de-icer
  • Torch and spare batteries
  • Warm clothes and a blanket
  • Boots
  • First aid kit
  • Jump leads
  • Food and a warm drink in a thermos
  • A shovel
  • Reflective warning sign
  • Sunglasses - the glare off snow can be dazzling
